$30 worth of groceries for $0.96

(On a gift card – that I got for free!)

Today I took advantage of the Contour Meter deal at Walgreens.  Buy one meter, get $10 RR.  I was able to purchase 4 meters at 2 different stores.

I turned around & used $30 (3 coupons) to buy some groceries we needed.  By doing this, I can really stretch out my grocery budget.  I can buy the things that we never seem to get good coupons for (milk, eggs, lunch meat, etc).  Here’s what I got:

2 dozen eggs
1 gallon milk
1 jar popcorn kernels
1 pack Ramen
1 bag of Fritos (for DH)
1 package Oscar Mayer turkey
2 cans of mushrooms
1 jar of salsa
1 bottle of mustard
1 can of Progresso soup

These things would have probably cost me $20 or so if I had gone to HyVee or Price Chopper to get them.  But then I would have had to pay out of pocket (cant use RR there unless one certain manager is working).  So even though the overall cost was higher than what I would normally pay, it saved me a TON of money because I didnt really pay out-of-pocket for these items.

Want to know how I got the free gift card?  I used a program called MyPoints.  You earn points for taking surveys, reading emails, shopping online, etc.  If you want to check it out, send me an email at and I can send you a referral link.
