  • HyVee chocolate milk $1.48. Go to the Milk campaign and enter to win a year’s supply of milk. Even if you don’t win, you get a coupon for free chocolate milk when you buy 2 gallons of white milk (any brand).
  • Buy 2 Hillshire Farms deli meats 2/$5, get a free loaf of Sara Lee whole grain white bread with in-ad coupon. Use the $1/2 coupon from the 1-10 RP on the deli meat. Total is $4 for 2 containers of deli meat & a loaf of bread. Awesome deal!

Hen House

  • Weight Watchers Smart Ones 6/$10. Use the $1/5 coupon from the January All You magazine to get these for $1.50 each.
  • Good Natured Family Farms milk $2.78/gallon. This is great local milk.
  • SoBe Lifewater $.98. If you find the coupons at CVS (tearpad, usually on the cooler doors), that will make these free.

Price Chopper

  • Weight Watchers Smart Ones $1.49 each. Buy 5 and use the $1/5 coupon from the Jan All You mag to get these for $1.29 each.
  • AquaStar cooked 1lb shrimp $4.99
  • Oroweat bread $1.99. Use the $.55 coupon from the 10-25 SS.
  • Ken’s Salad Dressings $.99 each. Use the $1 coupon from the 1-10 SS to get these for free! .

This is not a big week for groceries. On weeks like these, I end up getting most of my food from Save-A-Lot. They are my base-line for food prices. I will cherry pick the sales at the other stores to get better deals if they are available. Doing this allows us to have a budget of $100/month for groceries (for 2 people). Also note – that is just for groceries. All cleaning supplies & personal items come out of my Drugstore budget of $10/month.

Save A Lot

  • Split chicken breast (bone-in, frozen) $.79/lb
  • Bananas 3lbs/$1
  • 73% lean ground beef $1.49/lb. The trick here is to boil your meat when you cook it – it will make the fat come out so you can drain it off, making the meat very lean.
  • Fresh Express salad mixes 2/$1
  • Banquet Pot Pies 2/$1
  • Canned veggies $.49 each. Use the printable coupon for $.50/4 to get 4 cans for $1.47 ($.37 each). They even have low-sodium versions.
  • Westcott vegetable oil $1.98. Use the online coupon for $1 to get this for $.98.

Save-A-Lot takes manufacturer coupons, and has quite a few also available for print on their website. You will need to bring your own bags with you (but you have been doing that for awhile now with all of these reusable bags available, right?). Its ok if you forget – just grab some boxes or buy a few bags ($.05 each). Also, if you are shopping in KC, remember to have a quarter to “rent” the cart 🙂
