Walgreens fun 11-28

I ran to Walgreens tonight to grab some more items for the Christmas collection we are doing at work.  We are “adopting” seniors at Truman Medical Center and helping make Christmas a bit brighter for those without families.

All of the residents ask for basic care items, and then other small gifts on top of that.  My co-worker asked me to “use my Walgreens powers for good” and see if I couldn’t get the hygiene items for next to nothing so that we could spend our money on getting the residents the other things they wanted.  I very gladly accepted the challenge.  My $20 “donation” should be able to provide almost all of the items we need!  I will take some pics & post about the donations later.

This is over 6 transactions and 3 store trips:

2 Johnson’s Soft Wash bodywash
2 Triaminic allergy medicines
4 Theraflu
4 Almay foundations
2 Almay mascaras
2 Almay eyeshadows
2 Dove deodorants
2 Right Guard deodorants
1 Aquafresh toothpaste
1 Airborne powder packet (filler)
5 treat sacks (fillers)
3 holiday pencils (fillers)
4 votive candles (DH wanted these 🙂 )

I started the night out with $30 in RR, and used them along with $8.12 in cash.  I ended the night with $40 RR, so overall this was a money maker of $1.88!

Drugstore Deals 11-29 to 12-5

Sorry for the late posting.  I got caught up in the Black Friday shopping madness today!  But it was completely worth it 🙂

  • Accu-Check Aviva monitor $14.99, get $5 EB (limit 2).  There was a $10 coupon in the 8-23 or 11-8 SS.  This makes it free after coupon & EB J.  If you get a x/xx coupon this week in your email this week, this is a great way to reach that limit.
  • American Express pre-paid cards get $10 EB when you buy 3 (limit 4)
  • Gillette – spend $25, get $10 EB:
  • Body Wash
  • Clinical Strength deodorant
  • Conditioner
  • Shampoo
  • Shaving Products – Use the $3 Gillette Mach 3 disposable razors coupon from the 11-1 PG or the $1 Gillette series shave gel from the 11-1 PG
  • Kodak 2G SD card $14.99, get $3EB (limit 1)
  • Picture Frames $7 EB when you buy 2 (prices start at $6.99) (limit 4)
  • Spend $20, get $5 EB on assorted Christmas Candies (limit 1)
  • Spend $15, get $5 EB when you buy Febreeze or Swiffer products
  • Febreeze air effects 2/$5.  Use the $1 coupon from the 11-1 PG
  • Febreeze fabric refreshers 2/$9
  • Swiffer dry cloths $4.  Look inside the boxes.  Some have $2 coupons – if you get these you can buy 4 = $16, minus 4 $2 coupons = $8, and get back $5 EB.  That makes these $3, or $.75/box after coupons & EB.  Killer deal!
  • Swiffer starter kit $9
  • Several Christmas gift ideas under $10.  My favorite is a wet/dry car vac with 3 attachments, and a lighter-plugin!  This just looks cool 🙂
  • Oral B toothbrushes $2.99, get $2 EB (limit 1).  Use the $.75 coupon from the 11-1 PG to get these for $.25 (coupon expires 11-30, so shop early this week).
  • NyQuil $4.99, get $4 EB when you buy 2.  Use the $1.50 coupon from the 11.1 PG to get 2 for $1.50 each after EB and coupons.
  • Benefiber, Gas-x, or Maalox spend $20, get $10 EB.  Use the $2 coupon here (use zip 53206).

  • Complete multi-purpose solution $7.99, get $8 RR.  Use the $1 coupon from the 10-25 RP.
  • Band-aids 2/$3, get $1 RR.  Use the $.50 coupon from the 8-2 SS, and the $2 coupon from the Walgreens Activity book if you can find it (children’s coloring book with coupons in it.  If you find one, let me know!  These are very elusive apparently).
  • Gillette Fusion razor system $8.99, get $4 RR.  Lets hope that the first PG in Dec contains some good coupons!
  • Glade 2/$5, get $1 RR.  This includes the 2oz candles.  If you printed the BOGO coupons for these off the Right at Home site, they will be pretty cheap.  There is also a $3/2 in the 11-22 SS.
  • Oral B floss 2/$5, get $3 RR.  Use the $1 coupons in the 10-11 PG to get these for free.
  • Village Naturals sleep or stress therapy $3.99, get $2 RR.  Use the $1 coupon here to get these for $1 J  Great gift basket ideas.
  • Glade Sense N Spray $5.99, get $2 RR.  Use the $1 coupon from the 10-18 SS to get these for free.
  • LED Christmas lights BOGO (9.99 each)
  • Encore spices 2/$1 with in-ad coupon
  • Butterball Chicken broth 2/$1 with in-ad coupon
  • Printer cartridge refills $9.99 with in-ad coupon.  I plan to try these out!
  • Pencils 8/$1 with in-ad coupon.  Great filler!

4-Day sale 12-2 to 12-5

  • Natrol Acai $4, get $4 RR.  Use the $3 coupon here to make this a money maker!
  • Dentex dental care $1.99, get $2 RR
  • Goody Hair accessories $2, get $2
  • Soft & Beautiful botanicals $5, get $5 RR
  • Coke 2L $1.50 each, get $2.50 when you buy 3 (makes them $.66 each).
  • Quilted Northern $4.29, get $1 RR

This looks like a pretty decent week again at Walgreens if you need some Christmas decorations or contact solution.  I plan to at least get the Natrol for the money maker, and use the extra RR to get some things we need here (Woolite to wash DH’s dress shirts!).

Start saving money this holiday season!

This holiday season, receive instant rebates on compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs with KCP&L’s Lighting the Future program. Visit any of the participating Home Depot stores or order online to take advantage of reduced pricing on CFLs sponsored by KCP&L. Available while supplies last.
CFLs use 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last up to 10,000 hours. That adds up to a savings of over $30 per bulb each year. This is an offer you won’t want to miss, but hurry because the program ends December 31st.

TJ Maxx

I needed to get some new work shirts for DH, and we had received a giftcard for TJ Maxx from the wedding.  I decided to stop in & see if they had anything that would work.  I was able to get him 3 dress shirts (each with a tie, and one with cufflinks!) for $19.99 each.  The giftcard was $50, so I just had to pay $15.53 for the shirts.  Awesome!!

Overall it was a pretty good shopping day.  Its nice to get the things we need for such a low price.

Walgreens 101: Black Friday

If you have never jumped into Walgreens, Thursday, Friday & Saturday this next week would be an excellent time to start.  They are open on Thursday from 9-6, and I plan on being there right at 9!  Check out the Black Friday Deals post for more, but here are the scenarios for the freebies.  This is also how basic Walgreens “rolling” works – taking Register Rewards from one deal, using them to buy another, and then back again.

**Edit made – Johnson’s is $5.99, not $4.99.  Sorry!  The printable coupons seem to be out of prints, but look for the clearanced Green Tea scent – it might print RR and be a money maker without any coupons (I will verify & report back once the sale is active).
